AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 04, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Wall Street Investor News Commentary – For most of the history of antibody discovery, the hard part was producing candidates. Generative models, high-throughput assays and automated labs have changed that, and the industry is running into a different limit. Every program generates sequences, structures, assay readouts and failed designs, and much of that record never travels cleanly into the next program. Drug developers, lab-tools makers and chip suppliers are now building around the problem, and the announcements of recent weeks show where the engineering effort is going. Companies mentioned in today’s commentary include: MindWalk Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: HYFT), Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMD), NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA), Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR), Twist Bioscience Corporation (NASDAQ: TWST).
Regulators Want to See the Evidence Trail
Pressure is also coming from Washington. On April 10, 2025, the FDA announced a plan to phase out the animal testing requirement for monoclonal antibodies and other drugs, pointing to approaches that include AI-based computational models of toxicity and encouraging sponsors to include data from these new approach methodologies in investigational new drug applications. In its one-year progress report, published in April 2026, the agency said it had qualified its first artificial intelligence-based drug development tool.
The FDA has also set out how it expects AI to be judged. Its January 2025 draft guidance on AI used to support regulatory decisions for drug and biological products describes a risk-based framework for establishing the credibility of an AI model for a defined context of use, and the agency’s website still lists that guidance as a draft. For a model’s output to hold up under that kind of review, the data behind it has to be traceable: where it came from, who approved its use, and what happened the last time a similar design went into the lab.
A Context Layer Moves Into the Discovery Workflow
MindWalk Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: HYFT), a Bio-Native AI company, has announced a multi-year agreement with Teva Pharmaceuticals Australia Pty Ltd (“Teva Australia”) to deploy ReefIQ™, MindWalk’s biological context layer powered by HYFT® Technology, with specified LensAI™ analytical capabilities, in support of a defined scope of antibody-discovery work. Teva Australia scientists will use the AI capabilities to support discovery decisions based on generated predictions and accelerate antibody design optimization. MindWalk has worked with Teva Australia since 2018. Under the agreement, MindWalk will provide authorized analysis of approved data sources within the agreed scope, and deployment and use will be subject to Teva’s applicable information-security, privacy, data-governance, scientific-review and human-oversight requirements. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“Across the industry, the constraint in antibody discovery is no longer generating data. It is connecting and governing that data and carrying what a program team learns to the next phase,” said Jennifer Bath, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer of MindWalk. “That is exactly what ReefIQ was built to do for companies.” MindWalk describes the agreement as the kind of recurring-revenue platform relationship it told the market to expect: a multi-year relationship that supports scientists as programs advance within the agreed scope, rather than a fee-for-service project that ends when the deliverable is shipped or a software subscription priced by the seat. ReefIQ draws on HYFT’s biological representation of 660 million biological patterns and 25 billion relationships, refined over 20 years of curation, and the company says it is in active discussions with additional life sciences organizations regarding ReefIQ deployments.

The Labs Producing the Data
Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR) is attacking the same problem from the wet-lab side. On October 7, it announced a new AI-powered autonomous lab, based at its Abcam business, that uses AI to design new affinity reagents, including antibodies, then builds and tests each one and feeds the results back into the model to improve the next design. Danaher says the lab is designed to deliver up to 8x faster discovery of affinity reagents and up to a tenfold increase in annual reagent generation, and expects it to operate at scale in early 2027. The data foundation is already being laid: in September, Abcam and Genedata, another Danaher company, announced the deployment of Genedata Biologics across Abcam’s global R&D organization to create a unified data foundation for antibody development. Danaher also reported third-quarter revenues up 8.5% year over year to $6.6 billion and raised its full-year adjusted diluted EPS guidance to $8.57 to $8.62.
“This lab represents a new model for scientific discovery, where AI, automation and human expertise work together in a continuous learning cycle,” said JC Gutierrez-Ramos, Senior Vice President and Chief Science Officer of Danaher. “Speed is what supercharges that cycle. Every result sharpens the next design, so the faster each loop runs, the faster discovery compounds.”
Twist Bioscience Corporation (NASDAQ: TWST) is supplying the measurements that AI models train on. In September, Twist joined Lilly TuneLab, a collaborative AI/ML drug discovery platform created by Eli Lilly and Company, as a provider of antibody characterization data services, including for AbLab, an antibody developability prediction model. TuneLab users can order Twist antibody services that follow TuneLab-preferred protocols and send the resulting wet-lab data back to TuneLab for federated training. Twist reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $118.4 million, its fourteenth consecutive quarter of growth, raised its fiscal 2026 revenue guidance to $456 million to $457 million, and will report fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year results before the market opens on November 12, 2026.
“The quality of an AI model’s output depends on the quality of the data used to train it,” said Emily M. Leproust, Ph.D., CEO and co-founder of Twist Bioscience. “Twist has the scale and high-throughput capabilities to generate consistent and reliable antibody characterization data these models need to be trained on.”
The Silicon Doing the Arithmetic
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) is putting open models into the loop. At GTC Berlin on October 21, NVIDIA and the UW Medicine Institute for Protein Design released RFD4-Proteina, an open BioNeMo model that pairs programmable protein design with search, and Genedata’s AI co-scientist will use it to coordinate protein design and testing in a protein design foundry within Danaher’s autonomous lab. NVIDIA reported second-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $96.2 billion, up 106% from a year earlier, including Data Center revenue of $89.0 billion, and expects third-quarter revenue of $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%.
“Agentic and physical AI are opening new possibilities across medicine, from designing proteins and powering autonomous laboratories to improving personalized cancer care,” said Kimberly Powell, vice president of healthcare at NVIDIA.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMD) reported record second-quarter 2026 revenue of $11.5 billion, up 50% year over year, with Data Center segment revenue of $6.7 billion, up 107%, on strong demand for AMD EPYC™ processors and AMD Instinct™ GPUs. On September 28, it agreed to acquire World Labs in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $8.2 billion, expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. AMD has also published a case study on MindWalk’s use of its Instinct GPUs and EPYC processors in AI drug discovery, and will report third-quarter results after the market close on November 3, 2026.
“Building the compute platforms for the next generation of AI requires a deep understanding of how models are evolving,” said Dr. Lisa Su, chair and CEO, AMD. “Fei-Fei and the World Labs team bring exceptional research leadership and model expertise.”
What to Watch
The next few weeks bring a run of updates across the group: AMD’s third-quarter report on November 3 and Twist’s fiscal fourth-quarter results on November 12, with Danaher’s autonomous lab expected to operate at scale in early 2027. For MindWalk, the markers are progress on the Teva Australia deployment and any further ReefIQ agreements to come out of its discussions with other life sciences organizations. As MindWalk puts it, AI models turn over while the context layer accumulates.
