Grenko brings more than 25 years of experience in solar technology, engineering and technical advisory. He most recently served as President and CEO of VDE Americas, where he helped build and lead its technical advisory business. Earlier, he founded Amplify Energy, a PV engineering services firm acquired by DNV GL, and served as Vice President of Technology at Yingli Green Energy Americas.

As Technical Fellow, Grenko will lead Independent Engineering, Owner’s Engineering and Technical Due Diligence engagements and provide senior technical review on GroundWork’s most complex projects. He will help owners and lenders put GroundWork’s Lab and Field data to work in financing, construction and operating decisions, and will help scale the Advisory practice as it grows.

Grenko will also chair GroundWork’s Innovation Council, a forum of senior experts from Advisory, the Lab and systems engineering that brings the owner’s and lender’s perspective into GroundWork’s product development.

“Squeezing every available kilowatt-hour out of operating solar power generation facilities has been a vision of mine for years,” said Grenko. “GroundWork is uniquely positioned to realize that vision by bringing together field and laboratory measurements with technical expertise and advisory services, helping the industry make better-informed decisions and optimize performance. I’m excited to build on these core competencies to unlock new insights, develop innovative solutions, and create greater value for asset owners.”

“Brian shares our view of the next chapter of solar: we’ve built for speed, and now we need to build for certainty,” said Ann Will, CEO of GroundWork Renewables. “Owners and lenders want independent advice backed by evidence. Brian’s experience, paired with our Lab and Field data, gives them that, and helps us close the Expectation Gap between what a project was documented to do and what it can defend.”
